Performance and Application of HA-AL
Dispersing & Chelating Properties: HA-AL exhibits excellent dispersing effects on impurities in greige fabrics that can precipitate in alkaline dye baths. Its chelating effect on various calcium ions is similar to products derived from ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) or nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA). However, unlike these chelates, HA-AL does not dissolve metal ions such as copper and chromium in metal complex dyes, thus not affecting the activity of metal complexes or the color and fastness of reactive and direct dyes. HA-AL has no dye retention in the dye bath and does not foam due to its non-surface-active property.
Application in Dyeing of Polyester-Cotton Blends: During dyeing, cotton impurities dissolved in acidic media after polyester dyeing tend to precipitate in subsequent alkaline dye baths. The dispersing and chelating properties of HA-AL prevent such precipitation, particularly crucial in jig dyeing. Dosage: 1-2 g/L, added at the initial dyeing stage.
Application in Vat Dyeing of Cotton Fabrics: Due to its protective colloid effect in alkaline dye baths and significant chelating effect on calcium/magnesium ions, HA-AL is ideally suited for vat dyeing of cotton. Adding special protective colloids or chelating agents is unnecessary when using this product. Working solution concentration: 1-3 g/L.
Application in Reactive Dyeing of Cotton Fabrics: EDTA-type chelating agents cannot be used in reactive dyeing as they dissolve metal ions from dye complexes, reducing color fastness. In contrast, HA-AL does not interfere with metal complex dyes and can replace polyphosphates at the same concentration during reactive dyeing.
